The game comes complete with goofy physics, so your character feels a bit dopey to control and bounces around like a ragdoll when hit. The FBI Warns Windows 7 Users to Secure Their PCs

Image
On January 14, 2020, Windows 7 came to the end of its support life; however, that didn’t stop users and businesses from continuing to use it. Because of this, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has published a Private Industry Notification (PIN) telling all Windows 7 users to secure their computers. What Did the FBI Say? In the FBI’s Windows 7 PIN , the bureau explains why security is important for an older PC. The FBI points out that, in May 2017, 71 percent of healthcare organizations used operating systems that became unsupported in January 2020. If those organizations didn’t upgrade before January, it creates an opportunity for hackers to cause damage to improperly-secured systems. The FBI also mentions how Microsoft patched a critical exploit in Windows 7 back in March 2017. Despite this, the same exploit was used in the infamous WannaCry attacks in May of that year. A massive 98 percent of WannaCry (one of the most famous computer viruses ) victims used Windows 7, wh...

Microsoft Is in Talks to Acquire TikTok

Image
In a surprising move, Microsoft has declared its intent to acquire the popular Chinese app TikTok. Soon after declaring its interest, the US government almost shut down the deal. However, after a discussion, Microsoft has been given the green light to make the purchase. Microsoft’s Acquisition of TikTok: The Story So Far On Friday, July 31st, The New York Times reported on Microsoft’s desire to purchase TikTok. Microsoft was interested despite the service coming under scrutiny by the US government. At the time, the government considered telling the service to separate from its parent company ByteDance, presumably to cut it off from its Chinese roots. However, as reported by Reuters on the same day, President Trump stated that he planned to ban TikTok from the US. He also claimed he could use an executive order to ban it as soon as Saturday (August 1st). This made Microsoft hesitant to finalize the deal in light of the potential ban. Microsoft to continue discussions on potentia...

Microsoft Labels CCleaner a “Potentially Unwanted Application”

Image
For a while, CCleaner was a trusted addition to anyone’s cybersecurity arsenal. Recently, however, Microsoft has made a surprising move and marked CCleaner as a potentially unwanted application (PUA) for its Windows Defender antivirus. Let’s explore why Microsoft made this decision and what it means for you. Why Windows Defender Now Labels CCleaner as a PUA This isn’t the first time that CCleaner has made the news for the wrong reasons. In our article on why CCleaner isn’t safe , we cover some of the past scandals that arose with the program. CCleaner had a tendency to install updates for itself without telling users, as well as monitoring what users were doing. Even worse, the software did the opposite of its job after a hacker used it to spread malware. Despite this troubled history, however, this isn’t the reason Microsoft has taken action. The company did ban links to it from its forums, stating that it believed registry editors did more harm than good. This recent marking as...

Image
One of the most significant differences between Samsung phones and tablets and other Android-powered devices is the operating system. Sure, it’s Android, but it’s so heavily modified that it’s barely recognizable. Even the digital assistant is different, as Samsung uses Bixby, while most Android devices rely on Google Assistant instead.
