Violent crime soars by 18 per cent as warnings raised on falling police numbers in 2017. THE nation is in the grip of a surge in violent crime, figures have revealed. Shocking statistics show that offenses of violence have soared by 18 per cent in just 12 months. They come as a separate report showed the number of police officers has fallen to its lowest level since 1985. Steve White, chairman of the Police Federation which represents rank and file officers, said: “What more of a wake-up call does the government need? “Officer numbers are dropping consistently every year yet our members are having to deal with not only more  crimes but the most unimaginable atrocities such as those in Westminster, Manchester and London Bridge. Google AR search results are one of the coolest new things to come out of Google’s labs in recent months. After all, who doesn’t want to have a wide variety of animals blasted into their living room on command? Starting today, Google has made its augmented reality search results a bit more terrifying with the addition of 23 3D insects. How to View AR Insects in Google Search If you want to check out the new insects, you’ll need to have an ARCore-supported Android device or an iOS device running iOS 11 and up. From there, you’ll just need to search for the insect you want to see in its larger-than-life form. The Verge found that there are a total of 23 insects added with this update. Not again: Hackers steal $32 million worth of Ethereum

Ethereum has become a top target for hackers. 

The promising cryptocurrency that's also a platform for decentralized applications has skyrocketed in value over the last six months (though it also had a serious drop in price in the last couple of weeks). But hacker attacks and theft of ether have become commonplace, and the last one is one of the worst so far. 

An unknown hacker or a group of hackers exploited a vulnerability in the way in which Parity, an Ethereum wallet, implemented multi-sig wallets, stealing some 153,000 worth of ether, which was valued around $32 million at the time of theft.  Read more...
