Violent crime soars by 18 per cent as warnings raised on falling police numbers in 2017. THE nation is in the grip of a surge in violent crime, figures have revealed. Shocking statistics show that offenses of violence have soared by 18 per cent in just 12 months. They come as a separate report showed the number of police officers has fallen to its lowest level since 1985. Steve White, chairman of the Police Federation which represents rank and file officers, said: “What more of a wake-up call does the government need? “Officer numbers are dropping consistently every year yet our members are having to deal with not only more  crimes but the most unimaginable atrocities such as those in Westminster, Manchester and London Bridge. After all, who doesn’t want to have a wide variety of animals blasted into their living room on command? Starting today, Google has made its augmented reality search results a bit more terrifying with the addition of 23 3D insects. How to View AR Insects in Google Search If you want to check out the new insects, you’ll need to have an ARCore-supported Android device or an iOS device running iOS 11 and up. From there, you’ll just need to search for the insect you want to see in its larger-than-life form. The Verge found that there are a total of 23 insects added with this update. U.S. Department of Labor to Hold Medical Benefits Meetings In New Mexico for Former and Current Nuclear Weapons Workers

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor will hold informational meetings in Santa Fe, New Mexico, for former and current nuclear weapons workers and their survivors on the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA).

The EEOICPA provides compensation and medical benefits to eligible employees and former employees for occupational illnesses related to work exposures while employed at covered facilities. Eligible survivors may also be entitled to compensation. A searchable list of the covered facilities is available here.

Staff from the Department’s Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) will be available to assist eligible applicants in filing new claims or checking the status of existing claims. Additionally, federal representatives from the Joint Outreach Task Group – of which the Department is a member – as well as staff from the Seattle District Office of the Department’s Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation and of its Espanola Resource Center will be available to assist individuals filing new EEOICPA claims.
