Every year, the last Saturday in April is World Tai Chi & Qigong Day. As a long-time practitioner of t’ai chi myself, I’m delighted that there’s an annual, global event recognizing and promoting this meditative martial art. World Tai Chi & Qigong Day was established in the late 1990s by Bill Douglas and Angela Wong Douglas, coauthors of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to T’ai Chi & QiGong. Chances are, if you go to the same parks where people were celebrating Earth Day last weekend, you’ll see folks demonstrating the t’ai chi form or doing push hands.
